Hello autumn

It's autumn in Australia already! (Can you believe it?)
Pictures from weheartit.

Hello, my dear friend, Autumn, you have arrived today. I look forward your company as I watch the trees change colours and shed their leaves; I welcome the cool respite you bring, the refreshing rains, the smell of the air, the crispness of it against my skin. I shall savour hot soups, casserole dishes, warm pies and red, red wine. I love the dusting off of scarves, hats and warm jackets, the layering of clothes. I delight in the boundless opportunities to stay at home, wearing my cosy socks.

What do you love about Autumn?

If I were...

This post has been circulating the blog world for a while now but I thought I'd give it a try myself:

Picture from here.

If I were a month, I’d be December.

If I were a day of the week, I’d be Saturday.

If I were a time of day, I’d be the moments just before sleep.

If I were a planet, I’d be Venus.

If I were a sea animal, I’d be a sea urchin (bad-assed and hard to eat).

If I were a direction, I’d be North, always staring straight ahead.

If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be a comfy bed.

If I were a liquid, I’d be red wine.

If I were a gemstone, I’d be a diamond or sapphire.

If I were a tree, I’d be a Eucalyptus tree, so I'll smell nice.

If I were a tool, I’d be a makeup brush.

If I were a flower, I’d be an orchid.

If I were a kind of weather, I’d be a light Spring shower.

If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a cello.

If I were a color, I’d be pink.

If I were an emotion, I’d be Happiness.

If I were a fruit, I’d be a peach.

If I were a sound, I’d be a giggle.

If I were an element, I’d be air.

If I were a car, I’d be any type of convertible.

If I were a food, I’d be sweet and sour pork.

If I were a place, I’d be a lavender field.

If I were a material, I’d be silk or tulle.

If I were a taste, I’d taste like nutella.

If I were a scent, I’d be freshly brewed coffee.

If I were an animal, I’d be a bird, so I can randomly poop on people.

If I were an object, I’d be a pair of glasses and help someone see.

If I were a body part, I’d be the pinky.

If I were a facial expression, I’d be a blush.

If I were a song, I’d be "Let's get out of this Country" by Camera Obscura.

If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be high high heels.

An orange a day

Today I am feeling a little under the weather; nothing serious, though the doctor did prescribe lots of sleep and vitamin C. So while I've been sucking on oranges all day, I started to think about how underated the colour orange is, considering it's so uplifting and decided to share my dose of cheeriness with you.

Poladroid Project

Oh my! I got so excited when I read about the poladriod project on the Cole + Josephine blog, that I immediately downloaded the app so I can have some fun myself.

The app has a very authentic feel to it; there's the familiar click sound as I drag the photos onto the camera icon, and the picture slowly develops like the real thing. I even used Photoshop to add the captions to them. The photos have a lovely vintage feel to them, awesome!

Here are some of mine:And because I'm a vainpot, I made one of myself too:You can download your poladroid from here...have fun!

A photo tag

Sometime ago, I received a photo tag from the lovely Kasia B. The rules of this tag are:

1. Open your 1st Photo folder.
2. Scroll to the 10th photo.
3. Post the photo and the story behind it.
4. Tag 5 or more people.

I was really worried I would find an awful 10th photo in my photo folder but thankfully, it turned out to be this rather pretty picture (phew!).This photo was taken on my trip to Lake Glenbawn with Stu a couple of years back. It was to be our first camping trip together but unfortunately it rained so heavily our tent got destroyed, so we ended up spending the night at the back of Stu's 4WD, which you can see in the picture. I thought it was quite the adventure!

I'm tagging:

Barbie and me

I came across these gorgeous pictures of Barbie from this blog and it brought back so many wonderful memories of Barbie and me that I want to share with you today:

  • When I was a little girl, my father could not afford to buy me a Barbie doll house, so my brother made me one out of cardboard. I spent hours decorating it and to this day, I think it's the best doll house a girl can ever have.

  • As I was the only girl in the neighbourhood, I used to play with my brother and his friends when we were little. We would play rough "boy games" first and then as a trade, one of them would have to play Barbie and Ken with me.

  • I started collecting Barbie dolls when I was a teenager and then stopped when I hit my 20s, to this day I have over 50 of these dolls, brand new, unopened at my parent's house.

  • At university, I wrote an entire final essay about Barbie as a postmodern icon and scored a High Distinction for the assignment.

What are your memories of Barbie and you?

Somewhere over the rainbow

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

It was raining mostly at Jervis Bay, but Stu and I still had a perfectly lovely time together and even managed a romantic walk on the beach with our brolly, ha! I read somewhere that if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain...I think that makes so much sense.

Are you doing anything special this Valentine's Day? Stu and I are heading down south, to the beautiful Jervis Bay for a weekend of fishing, because fish and worms are so romantic (not!).
