Furry issue

Lately, I find myself drawn to furry things.

Yet, I'm hesitant to rush out and buy a fur item. Fur is beautiful, soft, warm and luxurious, no doubt, but it's extremely cruel to kill an animal in the name of fashion. Synthetic fur comes to mind, but I read somewhere that some "synthetic" fur are actually dog and cat fur (yuck.)

I recently discovered an Australian label, Flannel, that makes clothes with eco fur. The fur is shaved (not skinned) off an animal and then carefully stitched on to make for example, this rabbit fur coat below. I think I can justify a purchase like that. What are your thoughts on fur?

Pictures from weheartit and here.

I've never heard of ecofur but I'm wildly curious. I'm going to run it by one of my friends who knows a LOT about animal rights and see what she says.

I am not very smitten with fur, I like to see it but probably would never wear it. Those photos look lovely though.

I love furry things! But since it's summer here in NYC, I'm loving silky things! ;)

I've never heard of that brand before, but it sounds great! I do like the look of fur. It is hard to find a place to wear it usually since it is more of a formal thing.

i love the look of fur but after watching some of those videos of how they get it i could never wear it. i've been searching for a great faux fur jacket or vest though. the ecofur idea is pretty fabulous.

I'm not a fan at all - those poor animals - it's so cruel. I even have trouble with leather shoes at times!
The eco fur sounds interesting and hopefully a pain free option for animals :)

the eco-fur idea is fantastic :) i personally would never even dare touch a real fur coat, let alone wear it! it's too cruel, i watched a video with footage from a fur farm, it was revolting! faux fur usually looks tacky so i don't own that much with fur, but it does tend to always look amazing :)

I think fur is beautiful and just so hard not to like. But really, I can't help but think people who wear fur are cruel and heartless. And even if it is eco fur, think about the poor rabbit being shaved, for what... someone who wants to wear his fur. poor thing, it can be eco...but it's still evil. it's all pretty but the animal wears it better. :)

Wow, I've never heard of ecofur... Think I would still worry about it being mistaken for the real thing!
