No words

Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the cold I'm nursing but I'm currently at a loss for words. So, I've decided to take a break from blogging for a few days. I'll see you again soon, I'm sure.

It's getting cold

Autumn announces its arrival in the prettiest of ways. The weekend saw the most dramatic change in weather in Sydney. Saturday it was a beautiful perfect 24 degrees celsius, yesterday was a breezy cool 19 and today it's a cold bleary 15! I'm not a fan of the cold but I do love the changing colours of the seasons. Good bye summer and hello autumn.

Have a great week ahead.

Happy weekend

What's everyone up to this weekend?

My mates and I are treating ourselves to a horseriding weekend up north in the beautiful Glenworth Valley. I have never been on a horse before so I am really really excited. Stu and I also booked ourselves a lovely B&B tucked in the Australian bush, complete with a spa to ease our soon-to-be sore bums. Hurrah!

Have a great one, see you next week.

Fresh on my wishlist is Pip Lincolne's crafty little book, Meet Me At Mike's. This book gathers 26 craft projects from making yoga pants, a fabric clock to quirky little panda bears...too cute! Pip has a wonderful blog too, be sure to check it out.

The sound of sadness

Before you read: Writings on the wall is a series of short stories I wrote throughout the years of growing up. Some are linked, some are not, some are completely random and some are fictional. But all of them contain a little bit of me. Here is one such story from my childhood.
Susan had a big sister called Nancy. I was intrigued by her because the only other Nancy I knew was the one written by Carolyn Keene.

Nancy brought us out on the Christmas of ’91 to take photos. We went to Orchard Road where the lights were bright and shopping centres were decorated with sliver bells, reindeers and Santa Claus.

Susan and I posed, and Nancy snapped away.
“Cheese!” she shouted.

Susan and I linked arms with Santa Claus and smiled at the camera.

----------
Nancy had a boyfriend named Daniel. I knew because Susan told me. On Nancy’s desk, there was a picture of her and a guy smiling brightly. He was wearing a T-shirt that said “Peace!” and she, in one that said “Love!”

One day when I was over at Susan’s place, I heard sobs coming from Nancy’s room. It wasn’t like the loud howling cries I heard at my grandpa’s funeral. Neither was it like my screaming cries when my dad refused me a new Barbie doll. Hers was soft, almost undetectable but altogether more chilling to the spine. I thought this must be what sadness is all about; crying gently behind closed doors.

----------

Note: Did you know? Susan was my first and only (human) friend when I was five. Read about how we first met here.

Flowers, hearts, stripes and dots

I haven't been crafty for a long while...so I gave myself a mental kick in the back and got creative. Collected the prettiest prints that I could find, played around with flowers, hearts, dots and stripes and came up with these:
Feel free to use them anyway you like!

Making amends

Remember that stupid fight I told you about? I'd long forgiven Stu but he still thought to buy me this pretty vintage ring on the weekend to make up for it. Loving it!

Have a good week ahead.

Sweet dreams are made of these

If there ever was a recipe for sweet dreams, the main ingredients would be:
  • Tons of flowers
  • A sprinkle of fairy dust (or 2!)
  • A sky full of balloons
  • A generous layer of tulle
  • 1 delicate feather

Mix all ingredients and enjoy. May sweet dreams will visit you tonight!

Pictures from here and here.

Ronald Leong Photography

It's not often that I come across a photographer I really really like, and even more surprising to find out I actually know this guy. Meet Ronald Leong (we went to school together) and his wonderful photography work. I love how he captured the movement of water and this unsuspecting little fish.

Do you ever feel like this?

Had a fight with Stu yesterday and am feeling miserable for it.

Happy Easter

What are you doing this Easter long weekend?

Stu and I plan to go fishing (if weather permits!). Plus we'll have dinner with his parents, make a couple of pizzas, eat lots of chocolates and hopefully, go for a walk in the park to catch the last summer rays.

Happy Easter!

Anti-theft lunch bags

I've never had anyone steal my lunch before, but how cool would it have been if I had one of these anti-theft lunch bags to impress my mates with? I might've been the coolest kid in school. These sandwich bags have green splotches printed on both sides, making your freshly prepared lunch look spoiled. Totally ingenius.

Thrift shop delights

Every once in a while, I like to visit my local thrift shop. Most of the time I leave empty handed but yesterday, I found some lovely plates and a tea cup that absolutely delighted me.Aren't they just lovely? And all for the grand price of: $3.50

At the moment they are holding my jewellery but I am rather inspired by this plate wall via The English Muse.Maybe if I collect more...

Happy Fives and the Kreative award

  • Last night's rain saved me a trip to the car wash. Heh.
  • Stu's coming back from Queensland on the weekend!
  • I bought myself Lily Allen's new album
  • The awful headache that was plaguing me for days is finally gone. PHEW!
  • I got an award. Thanks to beautifully brainy music!

"List 7 things that you love, and then pass the award on to 7 bloggers that you love! Be sure to tag them and let them know that they have won. You can copy the picture of the award and paste it on your sideboard letting the whole world know...you are Kreativ"

Hmmm, 7 things I love:

  1. The first sip of my morning coffee.
  2. Giraffes.
  3. A really thick juicy steak and a great glass of wine to go with it.
  4. Making breakfast with Stu on a Sunday morning.
  5. Blogging and reading other people's blogs.
  6. Travelling.
  7. Sleeping in on a cold rainy day.

I tag: Tanya, Meredith, Diana, Chelsea-Ann Coconut, Steve, Corine and Miss Eve.
