I believe in fairies

Because when we do, everything is possible and the world is a magical, beautiful place.

It's never too late to start believing; do you believe in fairies?

Retail therapy

  • Prettiest little accessories
  • lippies from Chanel
  • 7 pairs of shoes
  • the cutest summer clothes
  • an awesome leather jacket from Zara

So someone's been indulging in a bit of retail therapy but I can totally justify it: Shoes are ridiculously cheap in Singapore, I could never find a leather jacket that fits, lip glosses are gifts from a very old friend, I haven't shopped like this for the longest time and holiday shopping doesn't count!

Island escape

On our island escape, Stu and I:
  • lost count of palm trees,
  • left footprints on the sand,
  • sang silly love songs at the bar and
  • watched the sunset.
Where do you escape to?

Wouldn't you like to feel like this everyday too?

Nostalgia

  1. Mom and her little sister dressed like dolls in matching dresses, shoes and little bags; all their clothes were tailor made and designed.
  2. Mom goes out with her big sister to the park for a walk. Mom said her big sister was the most beautiful girl in the neighbourhood, and I can certainly see why.
  3. Mom standing next the family car, hers was one of the few families in Singapore who could afford a car at the time.

One of my favourite things to do back in Singapore at my parents house, is to look at mom's old photographs. They tell me a story, and hint at little secrets of lives led a long time ago.

What do your old photographs tell you?

Chinatown

Visited Chinatown, had a look at the temple, Stu got himself a Chinese name, bought some souvenirs, drank fresh fruit juice from a market stall, dined at a Szechuan restaurant, Stu tried frog's legs for the very first time- all that in a day's work. I love playing tourist, even in my own country.

Have you visited your chinatown?

  • I watched 2 really good movies on the plane - Changeling and Slumdog millionaire
  • I barely slept last night but am feeling strangely alright- must be the adrenaline.

Freckles are cute

Freckles are cute. But a smattering of freckles on a doll's face makes them even all the more endearing. Do you think?

When I grow up

When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a lot of things when I grow up- a teacher, a musician, a Barbie doll, a supermodel and a lawyer. But most of all I wanted to be a ballerina. Why? Because I wanted to twirl and twirl and wear tutus all day. What did you want to be when you grow up?

Everyone's cup of tea

Just in case you've ever wondered what you can do with all the random tea cups you have at home, here are a few brilliant ideas:

Tea cup bangles by Lindsay Pemberton.

Teacup lamps from here.

How about some teacup candles? You can find instructions here.

Hammy goes organic

Does organic food tastes better than conventional food?

Well, the verdict's out: thanks to this very scientific experiment carried out by the guys at CooksDen. Hammy the Hamster confirmed what we always suspected is true. Watch the video now.

Tick tock tick tock tick tock

These walls of clocks have me totally re-thinking wall decor. Pretty amazing, don't you think?

The Black Hole

Before you read: Writings on the wall is a series of short stories I wrote throughout the years of growing up. Some are linked, some are not, some are completely random and some are fictional. But all of them contain a little bit of me. Here is one such story that is very close to my heart. I apologise in advance for the sadness and heaviness.I’m in a black hole. It was a hole i didn’t see, like a dark cloud that creeps over the sky on a beautiful warm summer day, a car that dashes out of the side street and takes you unaware. The darkness engulfs me, taking over my very soul and holds me tight, like a lover who won’t let go.

“It’s like a dark cloud, hanging over your shoulder. One day it’ll pass,” the doctor said, 3 months ago.
“No, doctor, it’s more like a deep, dark never ending hole that swallows you. Just when you think you’ve glimpsed the faintest hint of light, you fall deeper than you ever thought you could, down into the black hole."

It’s not suicidal, it’s not heartbreaking. It’s the heart wrenching state of nonchalance, the feeling that I don’t care, I don’t give a fuck, I can’t be bothered, I can’t feel, I don’t want to do this anymore. My heart twitches, like someone’s wringing the soul out of me. Even cigarettes taste stale, food bland. I don’t want to die yet I don’t want to live. I just want to sleep for an eternity.

To be continued...

White as snow

So inspired was I by all the different shades of white, I decided to dust my camera and snap at all things white as snow. From top: white little animals, white flowers, white clothes, white heels and white white pearls.
